Abstract

Energy is the material basis for economic growth, and it seems that countries with more energy resources would have better economic growth. However, the relationship between economic growth and energy consumption behavior is not the same in all countries. For instance, some countries with a higher amount of energy resources have lower economic growth. This study investigates the relationship between economic growth and energy consumption behavior in all countries for over ten years. The result of the study showed that the role of economic growth in energy consumption behavior is significant. Moreover, the study supports the finding that economic growth is an essential factor affecting energy consumption per capita. However, some countries with lower economic growth have higher energy consumption like Middle East countries.
